Niger Insurance wins merit award of NCRIB Niger Insurance has won the 2004 President’s Merit Award of The Nigerian Council of Registered insurance Brokers (NCRIB) for its invaluable contribution to the growth and development of the broking arm of the insurance industry. Prince Feyisapo Soyewo, president of NCRIB who presented the award to Alhaji Bala Zakariya’u, managing director and chief executive of Niger Insurance Plc at the 2004 National Insurance Conference of the council in Abuja said the award was in recognition of the support the council and the broking profession has received from the company in the last eight years. Soyewo, who described Niger Insurance as broker-friendly, said the company stands out among underwriters in the industry for its unique and exemplary committee and consistent support to brokers. He explained that the award is a form of encouragement to the company. Zakariya’u, who described the award as a great honour to Niger Insurance, attributed it to the untiring efforts of the board, management and staff of the company to assist in all their endeavours. “We see the award as a recognition of our humble efforts in supporting and contributing to the rapid growth of the broking arm of the insurance industry,” he said. “It is also an opportunity for us to continue with the symbiotic business relationship that has existed over the years between our company and brokers. We cherish that relationship and hope to deepen it in the future, as well as improve on our contribution and support.” The Niger Insurance MD said brokers play a very critical, enormous and invaluable role in the insurance industry. He said the industry cannot function effectively without brokers as the vacuum created in such scenario could threaten the existence of the industry itself. “Brokers are the intermediaries between underwriters and the insured. They play a very significant role for both parties in the insurance market.” |
