The Boat Travellers Insurance Policy

The Boat Travellers Insurance Policy is a mass appeal product designed to protect passengers using engine speedboats and ferries throughout the Federation. Individual as well as Corporate Bodies engage in carrying fare paying passengers on authorised routes has embraced this product.

BTIP provides financial compensation to victims and/or their dependents for death or body injury arising from hazards associated with water transportation, ranging from collision at sea to over turning of boats.

BTIP is presently sold at Riverine areas of Calabar, Oron, Bomadi, Nembe etc, Corporate entities and local authorities.

Benefits

The compensations are as follows:

• Death =N= 50,000.00
• Permanent or Total Disablement =N= 50,000.00
• Medical expenses incurred as a result of accident =N= 50,000.00

Premium Payment per transit

• Flat premium of =N= 10,000.00 only

Claims

Notice of claims resulting in loss of life, and/or injury, must be promptly reported to the nearest branch office of Niger Insurance Plc, relevant government agencies, the Marine Policy and the Maritime Workers Union Association.

Such beneficiaries must be fare paying passengers whose names appear in a manifest issued by Niger Insurance Plc.
